Today was an O K day at UUSC. There was more data entry for the never-ending church directory. Then Shayla had more projects for us to do to help her get ready for the Civil Rights Journey. On my breaks I got to read my new book I got from BnN. It’s called Thieves Like Us by Stephen Cole. I finished it this afternoon. It wasn’t that bad either. I was worried because it was kind of an impulse buy. I hadn’t heard anything about the book before. But it was pretty good—it would make a good action movie.
Today was a good day. We all got up (except Alex, who went to Providence to see the Waterfires) early to meet Alex at Arlington Street Church. The service was amazing. Everyone was laughing throughout most of the service. The regular minister was gone and in her place were these two guys—quite the comedic pair. If anyone wants to listen to their service, remind me sometime and I’ll check to see if they’ve posted it yet. Just to pique the interest, it was probably one of the funniest services I’ve been to. I even got a Jesus band-aid! Just throwing that out there.
Saturday was amazing. It was pretty much the first day I had to myself since I got here. Yeah. Technically we’ve had a lot of time to ourselves on the weekends but we usually do something or go somewhere. So I made the most of my fabulous day off. I slept in. Until about noon. Then I woke up and Aaron had made pancakes again. Yummy!
We had Lessons with Lissa today, like all Fridays. I can’t remember much about this day either except that we saw Ocean’s 13 that night. It was very, very good! Better than the second movie for sure. I recommend that people see it, for it is worth the watch. Going to bed now.
Today started like any other Thursday. We had lessons with Lissa for most of the day. At lunch, however, we had to pause—not only from the gnawing pains in our empty bellies—but also because of the Tornado alert. The storm was descending rapidly upon Boston and so we quickly went down to the basement of our building. Unfortunately, the rain from the storm soon caused a spell of flash flooding and since we live right across the street from the river, our basement was soon full of river water. We didn’t quite know what to do. Upstairs meant tornado, downstairs meant polluted river water.
Joy!!! Another fascinating, intense day of data entry. Soooo riveting. Yep. It was pretty rainy and cloudy today too. But that’s ok. It cleared up in the afternoon. And at 5:30 ish I went with Annie and Ben to meet Alex, Aaron, and Liz at Chinatown so we could go to the Rainbow Café for dinner. Excellent dinner by the way. The server there is really nice and the food is great. It takes a little while to cook but the end result is fabulous. Yes, I said fabulous, get used to it. ;p
It was an exciting day at UUSC today. It started out relatively slowly, just more data entry at first. Then Shayla came with a project for us; helping her get things organized for the Freedom Summer A Civil Rights Journey. That took the rest of the day with phone calls, research, etc. When we got home we had chicken on pita bread from Aaron’s work place. Then, randomly enough, Alex, Annie, Aaron, Liz and I decided to go Chinatown for Bubble Tea. I didn’t get the Bubble tea, though, just a banana shake. It was quite tasty.
Another day of data entry and research at the UUSC. Almost everyone is off at GA. Ben and I left a bit early just because. And it’s Bunker-Hill day today! That has to count for something right?
We got up rather early on Sunday. Much earlier than I would’ve liked. We all took the bus back to Boston and we met Lissa, Ben, Liz, and Eliza at Kings Chapel for Sunday service. That was very rushed and confusing. We were standing up and sitting down and it was hot. Oh well, it was an experience. Lol. Afterwards we all had lunch at Fajitas and ‘Ritas. Very tasty. I had quesadillas. In case anyone wanted to know. After lunch we had a guided tour through Boston on the Freedom Trail. Lots of interesting details. Paul Revere’s horse was named Brown Beauty.
Saturday was the day we all went to Providence. We got up around 11 o’clock and then we left around 1pm to take the train to Providence. My first train ride!! Very cool. Probably would have been better if I didn’t have a headache but that’s ok. On the way there I taught everyone Presidents, the card game. Providence is really nice. Kind of out in the country but still a big city. I think I’ve missed seeing the sky here in Boston. I could see lots of blue in Providence and it made the previously mentioned headache recede. At around three we all went to Pridefest. That was so amazing!
