“UNITARIANS AND GHOSTS”
Bill Thomas
The Unitarian Church in Bill's hometown hosts one of the town's best known ghosts. This always seemed funny to him, given many Unitarians' skepticism about the supernatural. While looking into that, he discovered to his surprise that Unitarians were leading participants (along with abolitionists and suffragists) in the 19th Century's enthusiastic pursuit of spirits and the "other side". What does all this say about Unitarian-Universalist thought and traditions, and our relation to science, mysticism and strange noises in the church kitchen?
Bill is a member of the Fargo Moorhead Unitarian Universalist Church and is the Director of Radio for Prairie Public Broadcasting.
