Religious Education
The Bismarck-Mandan Unitarian Universalist Congregation actively seeks to provide a path for spiritual inquiry for people of all ages.  We are proud to offer a lifespan spiritual development approach which will incorporate children, teens and adults.
For questions about any of our Religious Education (RE) programs, please call the church office: 701.223.6788.

UU Adults Religious Education
We are a community of seekers and learners, our whole lives long. Just as our children learn and grow together in their Sunday morning classes, so do we as adults continue our spiritual exploration always. Our lifespan spiritual development programs engage on many levels: spiritual, intellectual, ethical, emotional, and theological.

Adult Religious Education offerings will be announced throughout the year. Also, we plan several Circle Suppers to include relevant discussion themes which make the experience more spiritually meaningful.

Curriculum: The Seven Principles in Word and Worship and other sources.

In 2016/17, we offered Adult RE on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the church. Call Janis Cheney at 701.426.6950 if you have questions or would like to participate in a future class.

UU Youth Religious Education

Our children our the future of our liberal faith and values. We emphasize and encourage curiosity in a safe learning atmosphere, where warmth, love, acceptance and joy can be found.

We offer religious education for children in pre-school or older from September through May during the 10:30 AM Sunday Service only. We encourage all children to join the congregation for the start of the service. After opening words, our chalice lighting, a song and a story for all ages, the children are sung out to their classrooms by the congregation.

In our religious education program, we use the UUA developed curriculum,Tapestry of Faith. This is a series of programs and resources for all ages that nurture Unitarian Universalist identity, spiritual growth, a transforming faith, and vital communities of justice and love.

In the Spirit Play group, ages birth through about 4, we focus on play and model UU values. Youth and elders take an active role in mentoring and playing with the children.

In the Chalice Children group, ages 5 through about 9, we also focus on emulating UU values. Chalice Children serve as chalice lighters and ushers during our Sunday services as well.

The Tweens and Teens group takes an active role in Sunday services and mentors younger children in their classes. The Wednesday night youth program, "Heartbeats," began in November 2017, culminating in a lock-in on Friday, Dec. 15 2017. This intercultural program is offered in collaboration with Bismarck Global Neighbors and Sacred Pipe Resource Center. Heartbeats will start up again in January. Details soon!
