Book Review: "The Mayflower" by Nathaniel Philbrick

If you're at all like me or from my generation or older, you may have come to slow realization that the US History you were taught is not necessarily how things actually took place. I once saw a program on television on history in which the instructor stated emphatically that "history is popular culture." The point the instructor used to make this point is that everyone remembers "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" but no-one remembers Isaac Fulbright. Paul Revere's ride totaled 18 miles while Fulbright's ride to warn of the British invasion was 115 miles.
